Show and Tail

Please join Angela at West Virginia Treasures and others at her Tuesdays' Show and Tail. Put a story about your pet, a visit to the zoo, or an interesting story about an animal up for us to read and share.

This is an update on our new addition - Disco. We got him for our grandson - we were hoping two things - one that they would bond.
Our hopes were answered there - the two are like brothers now.
My husband and GS took Disco to a dog park by our house.
They are so cute walking together.
The GS really takes good care of him. He walks him. He feeds him. He sleeps with him. The GS is looking at the kids playground. lol
The other hope was about my allergies. My allergies start coming around this time. I'm making a decision not to have allergies! I'm keeping this dog. So far so good. If I can go another four months we will tell the grandson he can keep him. Right now he thinks we're watching him for a friend. It will hurt if Disco goes none the less. I get dermatitis of all things. So we're hoping and praying and assuming - we have the best dog and all will go great!

Happy Birthday to Maureen O'Hara - wikipedia

Her achievements O'Hara was named Irish America magazine's "Irish American of the Year" in 2005, with festivities held at the Plaza Hotel in New York.

She was given the Heritage Award by the Ireland-American Fund in 1991.

For her contributions to the motion picture industry, O'Hara has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at 7004 Hollywood Blvd. In 1993, she was inducted into the Western Performers Hall of Fame at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was also awarded the Golden Boot Award.

She wrote the foreword for the cookbook At Home in Ireland. In March 1999, O'Hara was selected to be Grand Marshal of New York City's St. Patrick's Day Parade. In 2007she wrote the foreword for the biography of her dear friend, actress Anna Lee.

In 2004, O'Hara released her autobiography 'Tis Herself, published by Simon & Schuster. In the same year, she was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Irish Film and Television Academy in her native Dublin.

In 2006, O'Hara attended the Grand Reopening and Expansion of the Flying Boats Museum in Foynes, Limerick, Ireland, as a patron of the museum. A significant portion of the museum is dedicated to her late husband Charles.

O'Hara donated her late husband's seaplane (a Sikorsky VS-44A) "The Queen of the Skies" to the New England Air Museum. The restoration of the plane took 8 years and time was donated by former pilots and mechanics in honour of Charles Blair. It's the only example of this plane type surviving.

I LOVED HER - she was beautiful - remember her in the Parent Trap with Halley Mills?

That's cool that you guys live near a dog park! There is a really small one about a half hour away from where I live but my dogs would laugh at that since we have such a large yard! lol

And I can't help it but after I seen the picture of Disco walking in the park I have the song Macho Macho Man! hehehe

Thanks for sharing with us this week!

Such a cute dog!

Look into BioSET. I swear by it. It's cured so many of my allergies. I've blogged about it (if you visit my Blog, find the tags labeled 'BioSET' and you can read some of my experiences.)

BioSET cures allergies by retraining the immune system not to react to non-threatening things (such as dogs) as threatening.

If you have any questions about it, please feel free to e-mail me.

I hope you get to keep Disco - what a cute name!

Good Morning Sandie Sweetie...
What a beautiful share this morning. Is that not just the most precious thing ever to see GS walking his BEST friend. I love it. Your little critter is a nice size too. Not to big, and not real tiny either. I love his little curved tail. He looks so happy pulling the GS along.

I pray that your dermatitis will not act up and you will be able to keep him. It is hard when we have this darn issues with our health that sometimes keep us from a goal we so long to reach. I will be keeping you in my prayers sweet friend.

Have a beautiful day today. I loved Parent Trap. That was one of my favorite movies. I am sure I would sit and watch it over and over today.

Many hugs and so much love, Sherry

Disco is adorable. I hope your allergies don't return, as I know how easily that little boy will get attached to that dog. We had our puppy only about 6 months, when she got horribly sick and nearly died last August. The thought of losing her, even though she had only been with us a short time, was horrible...so I'm hoping that it won't be necessary for y'all to part with Disco.

Also, I really like Maureen O'Hara. I think she was a class act all the way. And as an older woman (80's maybe), she was in The Christmas Box, which was from the early 2000's. Elegant and classy even then.

Have a lovely day,
Patti

Great photos - that name Disco fits him and your grandson and him looks so well together - ah, what a team! There's just nothing like a boy and his dog.

Have you tried AllerPet? You may have to search for it online or at Petsmart or Petco - my daughter used it for her cats (they make it for dogs and cats) and her boyfriend who had really bad cat allergies - never felt any reaction. It seemed to work for her. You just rubb it onto the animal (like once weekly or so or after a bath) and it's supposed to get rid of the dander/allergens) or maybe your Vet can recommend something in case they don't make it anymore. Just a thought! The only truly allergy free dogs there are is the Poodle and the Bichon Frise...

p.s. actually the Chihuahua is a single coated dog and is a low dander canine as well...let's keep our fingers crossed.

I know it's a bit late now, but if you search the Internet for "Low Allergy dogs" you will find a list of dogs that are good for allergy sufferers, but like you, I try to will mine away because I REFUSE to live a life without pets." Good luck!

Parent Trap (the original!) was like my FAV movie when it was first released! Someone told me I resembled Hayley Mills - of course, that was baloney ... but it "made" my whole year!
I'm saying a prayer your allergies remain on the "q.t.", Sandie, and Disco finds a forever home!
Love,
Myra

How cute! We never had pets due to allergies. My dh has them, and son went or shots every week for 14 yrs!
Now he has 4 little ones, and no pets there either. But they are fine with that!

It is very evident of where your heart is. It is right there with your GS.
That is such a bong going on between GS and Disco.
Your allergies will get better.
My friend gets shots for her alergies so she can keep her horses.
No way will she part with the horse.
