Excerpt from a Cat's Diary...

Day 983 of my captivity...

My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects. They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other inmates and I are fed hash or some sort of dry nuggets.

Although I make my contempt for the rations perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat something in order to keep up my strength.

The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape. In an attempt to disgust them, I once again vomit on the carpet.

Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their feet. I had hoped this would strike fear into
their hearts, since it clearly demonstrates what I am capable of. However, they merely made condescending comments about what a 'good little hunter' I am.

Grrr.
There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices tonight. I was placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the event.

However, I could hear the noises and smell the food. I overheard that my confinement was
due to the power of 'allergies.' I must learn what this means and how to use it to my advantage.

Today I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking. I must try this again tomorrow -- but at the top of the stairs.

I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and snitches. The dog receives special privileges.

He is regularly released - and seems to be more than willing to return. He is obviously brain damaged!

The bird has got to be an informant. I observe him communicating with the guards regularly. I am certain that he reports my every move. My captors have arranged protective custody for him in an elevated cell, so he is safe.

For now .

i will never ever go out in the ocean or even the river, i do go in the deep end of our pool which is 10 feet, but i am close enough to the side to grab if needed. of course i don't think that is what Reeve meant, but that is what i thought.

I liked the carton "strive to be happy". It is a choice, isn't it? Loved the difference between the cat and dog's diaries, Sandie. Too funny!

I hope it is a great day for you!

When I was a teen I would go in deep. Now I only go in deep if I'm in a pool. lol! In life I stick my toe in first and test the water.
These are great!
I always leave smiling!

Enjoyed everything today...as always. :)

No wonder hubby doesn't do well fishing. He clips his toenails when obviously he needs long ones to grab those fish!

Shallow or deep? Depends on what the "water" is.

Love the animal diaries. No wonder I love dogs. They're so positive and happy!

HI!!!
Because I nearly drowned as a child...I never learned to swim.....Oh I can dog paddle....swim above the water....so I NEVER go to the deep end............if I must, I just swim across the pool.......In the ocean, only wade to my knees.....scared of all the fish too!!!!Loved that dog video....happiness is a daily choice....some things bring us down...however we must rise above it.....
I do get really mad sometimes though
lol

Just dropping by to say thank you so much for your sweet words of encouragement you left on my last post. I appreciate the prayers and the thoughts more than you will ever know. It's been crazy here, and I'm trying to blog a little. That's all I can manage to do right now because of all that is going on. But I miss all of you.

Hope you and yours are doing well. Sending you warm hugs across the miles...

XO,

Sheila

Your posts are always enjoyable and uplifting, giving my spirit a lift. I am not a deep water fish. I keep to the shallows, both literally and figuratively :) As an animal lover and a dog owner, I dd so enjoy these two diaries. Thak you for sharing.

LOL I never thought that pets would ever feel like they were captives. Our dog "Indy" thought that he was the king of the neighbourhood( we gave him away as was running away when our son left for college). Even our finches thought they could poop outside their cage while their cage was nicely lined with paper that got changed every morning. And our cat "Tofu" would sun herself with eyes closed pretending not to hear my kids telling her to get off of their favourite magazines.

Oh my gosh Sandie! The dog and cat diaries are just hilarious! I had to read those out loud to my husband and daughter because it was just too funny! I can so see that that would be how the cat would think! I don't care for cats you know.

Angela

Oh, oh, I loved the cat and dog diaries! They're so typical of how those animals act and think. I always said that my Sarah cat allowed us to live with her.

These are soooo sweet!

Say, I was thinking of ya'all the other day ... well, actually about Disco. Have you heard of that new book, "A Dog's Purpose"?

The narrator is a dog -- everything from his perspective. Honestly, Sandie, this is one of the BEST books I've read in a long time! I laughed and cried the whole way through!

I identify much more with the dog than with the cat, but I do have my cat-like days occasionally. I find the older I get the happier and more appreciative and joyful I become - each day is precious! What a cute post - great stuff!

You sneaky girl!!

I have to admit, I'm not original with that quote, I read it on a T-shirt...but isn't it a great motto at our age?? Thanks for the link to my blog, too!

I cracked up at the comparison between cats and dogs. Sorry, but I'm just really partial to dogs. Perhaps because of their unflagging and simple joy for life!

WOOF WOOF!!
