Mid Life Crisis

God it seems, never fails me. When I am in a quandary about something - he provides an answer - and for me it is usually written - either I get an email from someone or I get a quote from one of my daily sites.

This was what I received yesterday after I posted my post.

"If you pay attention at every moment, you form a new relationship to time. In some magical way, by slowing down, you become more efficient, productive, and energetic, focusing without distraction directly on the task in front of you.

Not only do you become immersed in the moment, you become that moment. ”

Michael Ray

Now I got to thinking (dangerous I know) after writing that yesterday and seeing the replies - that all we do when we are little is try to grow up and our parents finish the job! They tell us - "Grow Up!" "Don't act like a baby." "Don't be silly." At least that is what I got.

Okay we grow up - give up our childish ways - and we become serious adults. Okay we get in our 50's or 60's and realize - hey life - the years we have left - are on the down swing. What have I done with my life - my life is no fun. I've missed something.

Then I do believe most of us do deal with some mid-life crisis - not all of us buy a new red convertible - but I bet we have all asked is this all this is - in some of our retrospective thoughts.

If we keep a little F U N in our lives - we could counteract a big mid-life crisis. Right? I meant if we don't deliberately put some F U N in our lives we will turn sour! Like milk left out to long!

Hey if you can see this - do so - it is a Spirit Video called Sally. You might have to join - it is free and they send you a free one once a month and they are AWESOME - TRUST ME! It is definitely worth the effort.

Anyway I am going to make sure I put a little fun in my life every single day! Along with a lot of prayers!

Let's live every single minute God gives us!

Of course you'll keep the fun in your life. Look at all the great things you do - fun adventures and trips and restaurants. You're always up to something exciting, and I enjoy reading the things you share. :-)

Very well said. I made a list of Fall Resolutions after Labor Day (instead of New Years) and the first thing on my list was to have more fun in my life.

Love how God answers prayers like this, Sandie! And of course he never fails us; sometimes he is slow in answering, but he never fails us :)

Amen on putting some fun in our lives; been thinking about just exactly that too here; so lets go out and do something fun and interesting this weekend and then report back about it :)

amen sister, a very good sermon for us all. i am all for adding fun and also for living the moment, because who knows how many moments we have left, or the ones we love, their moments. also the strangers we meet, what if we are the last person they talk to or interact with, i need to focus on the pay it forward thing, i go through spurts of doing it then forget. thanks for the memory jog

I found 'fun' morphs as I age. If we take the time to stop and smell the roses and live the moments...it's so satisfying.

Beth here....yep, being on the down hill swing as you call it I totally agree....we must enjoy every second God has blessed us with. Seems like when I was younger I was in such a hurry....now I actually take time to enjoy things....the video was GREAT! Isn't that the way some people are....the ending made me smile....thanks, my friend....

I know that reaching 60 has made me more aware that I am on the 'down side' of things. I'm trying to keep the fun in life and you my friend help me do that. Great post Sandie!

That is a sweet little movie clip. It's sometimes hard to focus on the important things when we are focused on our own little world. Thank you for sharing this site! I am going to watch more movies later.

Terrific thought. Nothing especially fun planned for today. I guess I need to find some fun for the day! Actually, it is fun chatting with you.

YES! Kids are told not to be silly, and to act grown up and behave themselves, but we are taking their childhood away from them!! The video was wonderful!!!!! Do you think there was a deeper meaning than just what we saw?

Let's all choose to have more fun! :)

Well my friend, to me you certainly seem to keep the fun in your life (apart from the dandelion blowing of course, but we'll quickly gloss over that!! Hee Hee!)Your posts always make us smile and are always filled with funny things, and then you find things to inspire us as well, so don't be too hard on yourself! Live, Laugh, Love.

I believe in fun. We all need a little fun each day. After I clean my house I think about what I could do that would be fun and then do it!

Seems just like yesterday I was chasing my kids around and now my girl is in college. Life does pass by so quickly and I'm just now realizing I should have slowed down sooner! I'm going to try now!!!

My theme song has always been the "toys r us" song because I don't want to grow up I'm a toys r us kid :) I'm a strong believer in holding on to your inner child and bringing it out regularly for a little sillyness

I deleted my earlier post as it was a bit "too flippant"...so to speak. :)
I didn't buy a convertable but did buy a Toyota pickup and love it. Little gray head, peeking under the steering wheel, petal to the metal..

I agree with Lisa. I think you already do have fun. I hope you will share other fun things you do. Inspire us with ideas!

I've always told my son that God is guiding you but, you must keep not only your eyes open but, also your heart.
The movie clip was very touching.
Sandie, Thank You for always inspiring me and touching my heart.

Sometimes I forget about the necessity for fun - and by that time I'm a bit cranky and have to be reminded. Let's never give up having a little fun!

That was a wonderful video. I touched my heart in the simplicity of it. I think you're right about the fun, too.

That's one thing that I has been lacking in my life lately, to be honest.

Until I moved so far from my daughters and grandsons, I did have fun in my life. The last couple of years, not so much. I seriously have to rethink this. Terry and I will have to do more to make more fun moments. Thanks for the reminder. Life is not a dress rehearsal! Right?

Good advice!

Life is too short, and too boring, and too hard sometimes. We need to remember to laugh and look for joy!
