Saturday - Some Pulbic Service Information

Did you know?
You can flip a toaster on its side and grill cheese in it.

The color on the bread tab indicates how fresh the bread is.
And those colors are in alphabetical order: b, g, r, w, y.

You can divide and store ground meat in a zip loc bag. Just break off how much you need and keep the rest in the freezer for later. So much easier than dividing and individually wrapping each pound or half pound.

If you place a wooden spoon over a pot of boiling water, it won't boil over.

Marshmallows can cure a sore throat. Perfect for kids who don't like medicine.

Stuffing a dryer sheet in your back pocket will repel mosquitoes.

You can run a paper bag through your printer.

You can mail anything that will take a stamp and weighs less than 13ounces without a box?

If you break your blender jar you can replace it with a mason jar.

I think some of these were cool.  I never thought about putting in a paper bag in the printer.  And about the mailing.

News for us - we are in a holding pattern until this Wednesday.
Thank you!
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY!

 Love, Chatty

Cool ideas...had no idea with some of them. Thanks for sharing.

I would be a little concerned that the cheese might drip into the toaster and be hard to clean. Another fun tip about making grilled cheese sandwiches is to wrap the sandwich in foil and iron it on both sides. Yes with a regular cloths iron.

These were some great ideas. Marshmallows to treat sore throats sounds like a good idea. And using a wooden spoon for something other than spanking the kids is a good idea too:)

Thanks for sharing that information ... some of it I'd seen before but forgot and some of it was brand new. Am I the only one who, when clicking on the source links, got this message:

At first I thought it was something from my end, but I don't get this message when clicking on links on other blogs ... just yours. Confused. ;-)

There are some great ideas here. I'm going out to get dryer sheets. I am a mosquito magnet. Hugs and love, my friend!

i am ROFL about the toaster, i have the picture in my mind of what will happen to that cheese toast when it is done and POPS UP only it will shoot that cheese toast out on the counter and plop the cheese side down. ha ha ho ho he he. my grandmothers toaster used to flip the bread up in the air and down on the foor, this was about 60 years ago, so that made me think about the pop out tthing.

I gotta try that toaster one! Interesting about the bread colored tabs; all fascinating info Sandie!

Ooooooo, so many good ideas, Sandie. I especially like the Bounce sheets in pockets to repel mosquitoes. I'll put one in ALL my pockets! Ha! I HATE to be outside and bitten by those nasty creatures. You are all in my thoughts and prayers this weekend, my dear Sandie. Susan

I am going to try the mosquito repellent i.e. dryer sheet. I am so allergic to their bites, and I hate that stinky spray on stuff. Have a good Mother's day.

I am so glad that I started reading your blog. I have learned more new things here. I love the idea of putting a wooden spoon over a pot so it doesn't boil over. I am constantly cleaning my stove due to pots boiling over. I will try that one. I have tried the bounce in the pocket to keep mosquitoes from biting and that one did not work for us. Our mosquitoes didn't care one bit. They bit anyway. Hope your Saturday is a super one!

These are some of the best tips EVER!!! Not the usual that just keep going around every year. I love the paper bag one, and the blender, mosquito repellant, and wooden spoon.

I got the same message as Kathy. I don't think the advice about mailing anything for that price is accurate. I have had to pay for special handling of handmade cards because they couldn't go through some machine because of a brad, three dimensional flower on a card, etc. It isn't just weight that determines the postal fee. The postal clerks have a template with a slit in it. If an envelope passes through the slit, a regular stamp will work.

I made a dozen Christmas cards a few years ago that were mailed in clear envelopes. Addresses were on a solid sheet of paper within, clearly visible. I had to pay for special handling because the plastic envelope wouldn't go through the machine.

Sandie, just wanted to make a quick stop to wish you a very happy mother's day tomorrow...may it be filled with lots of hugs and kisses .....

I really like the idea for freezing ground beef, I'm going to do that one. I'll also have to try the wooden spoon.

Being in a holding pattern can be frustrating but at least you know the landing time.

TARYTERRE said...

We're in a holding pattern here. Please keep my daughter in your prayers. They just discovered 3 spots on her lungs. she's never smoked. And a big mass on her liver. They're going to do a biopsy soon. I am praying with all my heart these things are benign. She's only 36 and has two small children. You never know what the good Lord is going to throw your way. Last week everything was in transition about something else. This week we are confronted with this. HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to you. I know with your husband being sick, it'll hold even more special meaning to you. Take care.

OK, my first thought:
Why don't they bake bread on Wednesday?

As for the whole post, it's WONDERFUL. I didn't know a single one of those. Wonder if the bounce works for gnats too? They are really bad this year!

Great tips.

I wonder if those dryer sheets will work for Black flies in Canada. I have to wear a black fly net and last night walking. It was like so hot, hot with it on.

I am allergic to the black flies. I have tried every thing on the market to be a happy camper for to enjoy Spring. So if you ever find out anything. Please add to your list here to-morrow.

These blackflies are wee small like a fruit fly around ripe bananas. Boy do they bite. They attack like 100 at a time for me.

Like Katy said. I cannot open source neither. It says can cause hackers and so forth. Just on your sourses it reads. Are you aware of this?
