Monday

HAPPY MONDAY MORNING!

Here is my drive by barn shot for the week!

My Recipe of the week - remember my friend Jean?  She made this for us and brought it when she came for a visit and it was delicious!

                JEAN'S  BANANA BREAD

1 stick of butter
1-1/4 cup of granulated sugar
1 beaten egg
3 mashed large ripe bananas
2 c. all purpose flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
pinch of salt
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 T. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 c. raisins and 3/4 c. walnuts optional
Cream butter and sugar.  Beat egg and add to mixture.  Then add bananas, milk and vanilla, mixing well.  Mix all dry ingredients and add to mixture, stirring by hand.  Pour into greased loaf pan.  Bake at 350 degrees for 70 minutes or til done.  (My recipe said 50 minutes but it takes 70 minutes in my oven!)

This was great and even my picky grandson loved it - and that is saying a lot!

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY!

Love,

This is a much better "drive-by shooting" than others about which one reads.

The stillness of the bottom picture is relaxing.

Hope you have a wonderful day!

Nice barn pic!! And I can't get over how quotable Sir Winston Churchill was. An amazing man.

I think my grandkids love banana bread - unless it has walnuts in it.

Banana bread! I was just thinking about making a loaf the other day ... and now I have the recipe!

To me, the barn symbolizes a peaceful life. For those who like bananas, that sounds like a delicious recipe. My family would love it. I wonder if you could substitute pumpkin for the bananas. If so, I would dive right in.

Just took a deep breath, always need to do that on Mondays for some reason. Is there nothing more tasty than warm fresh banana bread. I am not a big banana fan, but I love banana bread! Have a great week Sandie. Ann

Tomorrow I start caring for my youngest grandson as my daughter is returning to work. Thankfully it is only part time. Good for her, the baby and me too. Hope your Monday is a great one!

Hi Sandie,

Love the quotation
how true it is.

That banana bread sounds lovely
I have some bananas in the kitchen
that could certainly be made into that(only thing is I would probably demolish the lot myself)

Have a lovely day

The bread sounds great. We seldom bake but the recipe is saved.

I love blogs. I like it when someone uses their words, and also picks great quotes. There have been some very wise folks in this world and I am glad they, or someone took the time to record them.
"Take a deep breath, and start again!"

How many times have we done that.

Love from up here.

I meant to say, I love the barn with the older Diesel Truck Tractor, lot of memories there. My Uncles/brothers drove those for years.

Love ya!

Banana bread is one of our favorites! Will try this recipe next time.

I used to work (many years ago) with a lady that always wanted our over ripe banana's to make bread and then she'd bring to us at work. I took her advice and started making it that way; so GOOD!

I like the 'barn' today, Sandie. We would call it a 'shed' but for city fold a barn is just fine.

Know I would like the banana bread too. Sounds yummy, especially is the little ones eat it good.

Yum. Seriously - that sounds so good.

I have a tried and true banana bread recipe, yet I'm constantly trying new ones. Makes no sense, but I do it.

(And for whatever reason, banana bread ALWAYS seems to take longer to bake than any recipe says. What's up with that?)

And I love the quote at the end.
