Monday

HAPPY MONDAY MORNING!

Here is my drive by barn shot for the week!

My Recipe of the week - remember my friend Jean?  She made this for us and brought it when she came for a visit and it was delicious!

                JEAN'S  BANANA BREAD

1 stick of butter
1-1/4 cup of granulated sugar
1 beaten egg
3 mashed large ripe bananas
2 c. all purpose flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
pinch of salt
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 T. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 c. raisins and 3/4 c. walnuts optional
Cream butter and sugar.  Beat egg and add to mixture.  Then add bananas, milk and vanilla, mixing well.  Mix all dry ingredients and add to mixture, stirring by hand.  Pour into greased loaf pan.  Bake at 350 degrees for 70 minutes or til done.  (My recipe said 50 minutes but it takes 70 minutes in my oven!)

This was great and even my picky grandson loved it - and that is saying a lot!

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY!

Love,

  4. This is a much better "drive-by shooting" than others about which one reads.

The stillness of the bottom picture is relaxing.

Hope you have a wonderful day!

I think my grandkids love banana bread - unless it has walnuts in it.

  12. To me, the barn symbolizes a peaceful life. For those who like bananas, that sounds like a delicious recipe. My family would love it. I wonder if you could substitute pumpkin for the bananas. If so, I would dive right in.

  21. The bread sounds great. We seldom bake but the recipe is saved.

I love blogs. I like it when someone uses their words, and also picks great quotes. There have been some very wise folks in this world and I am glad they, or someone took the time to record them.
"Take a deep breath, and start again!"

How many times have we done that.

    Love from up here.

  26. Banana bread is one of our favorites! Will try this recipe next time.

I used to work (many years ago) with a lady that always wanted our over ripe banana's to make bread and then she'd bring to us at work. I took her advice and started making it that way; so GOOD!

  60. I have a tried and true banana bread recipe, yet I'm constantly trying new ones. Makes no sense, but I do it.

(And for whatever reason, banana bread ALWAYS seems to take longer to bake than any recipe says. What's up with that?)

And I love the quote at the end.
