Sunday a little gift to you

Remember my friend Jean from North Carolina - well she reads all these great books and then tells me about them.

This is a little excerpt from the book.  It only takes four minutes - but you will LOVE it - I promise. It is my gift to you.  And yes I have that book coming too!  Click here.

  THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:

Out of suffering have emerged the strongest souls;
the most massive characters are seared with scars.
~Kahlil Gibran (From A Rural Journey’s Blog)

Now you know this hit me like a bullet between my forehead.  I am a person who has had to suffer in this life - I know that we all have, but I was thinking selfishly about ME when I read this!

This spoke to me because I do have scars, not ones you can see, but they are there none-the-less.

I call or think of myself as a very strong person from all this past suffering I have been through and from the scars I carry.

AS I WAS READING I GOT TO THINKING ABOUT WHO ELSE THIS COULD BE ABOUT. . .

JESUS.  He went through a lot more suffering and has more scars then I could ever have.  Thank you.  I am grateful to be who I am.

Love, Chatty

God never promised we would not suffer, but He did promise that He would be with us in it and that there would be "joy in the morning". So grateful that you have received your joy! :-)

I always like to think that we are strongest when we are weak enough to get on our knees in prayer. Sure do hope you have a wonderful Sunday. I'm babysitting again this afternoon so returned home early this morning. I count it all quality time with my grandchildren.

Neat video, cute baby and a nice cover for the book. Had a little closed caption also.
I have a deep set rule, I judge a book by the cover, I have bought many like that and been disappointed BUT I WILL NEVER JUDGE A PERSON BY THE OUTSIDE, NO ONE, THAT IS NO ONE, KNOWS WHAT IS INSIDE EXCEPT THE PERSON THEMSELVES.
Some can express it, others cannot. Yes I believe great character doesn't have to come from much suffering, BUT SO MANY TIMES IT DOES.
Love you lady and I think you know what you are talking about.

That's the book I'm reading right now. I'm reading it slowly, sometimes the same passage over-and-over. I want it seared into my brain. It is life changing. I can't wait to hear your thoughts on it.

Your post of today Sandie , is just simply wonderful.
You touch on something we often forget.
Jesus died for us all.
Through suffering we become wiser and sometimes see the world in different ways.
I too have suffered much. My heart goes out to you and I send you sweet hugs dear friend for the suffering that you have gone through.
I was nearly in tears with the video clip.. its beautiful.Thank you Sandie.
God bless.

It is so sad that we have to suffer to become the people we are today..... But look how GREAT you are NOW!! Very lucky for us the scars don't show.

We are stronger at the broken places. I rarely appreciate this at the time of breaking, but so grateful at the time of healing. Hugs and wishes for a good week!

I love reading the lives of the saints.....they are grateful for trials and suffering because it brings them closer to Christ as they depend on Him more....I am so not there, but love the inspiration...

Hi Sandie,
I agree with you...
This is a wise thought provoking:
"Out of suffering emerges the strongest souls..."
Although scars may not be visible, they are there inside one's spirit.
Patience is a good virtue that not everybody has.
I am glad your grandson begins his school days in a Christian Private School. I am sorry to hear that he got hurt in his finger. Tell your grandson, do not play with a knife, because the blade is dangerous.
I always enjoy visiting your awesome blog, Sandie dearest.
I'm getting settled and ready for my big trip back home to New York for our family reunion.
Thank you for sharing your world with us!!
The Lord be with all of you.
Hugs & Blessings,
Starry.

Hello dear Sandie, This hit me also the other day, and when it did, I felt so selfish and terrible. We complain inside ourselves when the ones of the world who suffer so much more, are happy with their lot. I believe Jesus had it very hard. He showed love and kindness and healing to all, and in the end, they murdered him. Much love sent your way today. xxxxx

Love the quote. You are right we all suffer at one point or another in our lives. I am sorry for your difficult times. Take care.

I love that last sentence ... we *should* be grateful for who we are, not fretting for who/what we are not, for we are daughters of God, created in His image.

I great big hug from Colorado all the way to Georgia and you! Love you sweet friend! Take care! You always post the most appropriate things! Have a good day!

Beautiful.
I admit that I was thinking of myself first too. That stinking sin nature just jumped right in the way.

I don't truly know suffering like He knows suffering.

That is sweet...gratitude a good reminder.
