Tuesdays Tips....

From Women's Day:

What you can do with toothpaste.

1.Soothe a bug bite. Apply a pea size dollop of minty toothpaste to the spot.
2.Freshen you finger and it eliminates garlic smell.
3.Nix crayon stains on walls.
4.Display artwork - dab of toothpaste to each  corner and position - take gently take it down - wash away.
5.Polish jewelry.

I use it to clean my tennis shoes and I have heard some people use it as putty for nail holes!

From Redbook

So you can't find your favorite makeup?  Not to worry there is hope.

Three Custom Color Specialist can re-create nearly anything, from concealer to blush to gloss.
First, you go online to see if they have your make up archived.  If not, you'll need to send them a dime-size smear of your dwindling supply.  Prices start at $60 for two tubes. For details, go to threecustom.com. By M. Oliva

IMPORTANT TIP - Redbook -

Try not to wake up before 5 a.m.

"One friend of mine, a CEO of a very successful company, prides himself on getting out of bed at 4:30 a.m. to get a jump on his business competition. I told him, If you don't let yourself sleep till 5, you're setting yourself up for a heart attack.' He laughed, 'I'm too rich to die!'  But he listened when I told him that most people's internal clock resets itself every morning at approximately 5 a.m.  Wake up before that and your stress hormones can surge - this is one reason why most heart attacks occur around 3 or 4 a.m.  Making this adjustment won't destroy your career, but potentially will save your life."
Lisa Matzer, M.D. cardiologist in Los Angeles.

IMPORTANT TIP FROM CHATTY:

For all my bloggers, but especially for my Georgia bloggers - we went to Mercier's Apple Orchard's on Sunday.     It was fantastic - in the Blue Ridge Mountains and if you can't get there they do have a website you can order the best tasting food ever!  lol

Great tips for the toothpaste. I am going to try it on bug bites. It seems every time I step out side... The bugs flock to me.

I really miss visiting the apple orchard in the Fall. It's the one thing Florida doesn't have that I miss. My favorite apple is the Cortland, and I never see them on for sale on orchard websites - yours included. Sigh.

Great photos and I'm glad the lion is just observing the people! ;)

GS seems ready to take a ride on that tractor. The orchard looks great. I miss that about being in south Georgia.

Andy is growing up so straight and tall. These photos are great. My time away was used well and things are much better now.

The family issue hasn't changes but we don't have to be too concerned now.

Take care my sweet!

Especially enjoyed this today.

You mentioned that people use toothpaste as putty for nail holes. And then you talked about creating your own makeup. I want to know if you could put the two together and make some sort of wrinkle-filler??? Hey, I'm trying.

Meal on wheels. Love it. Gives a whole new meaning to those Hungry Man meals. Perhaps it should be, "Man Hungry??"

Toothpaste also gets rid of pimples. Will tell my Mister who rises at 430AM every day the heart attack story. I want that bucket full of puppies!!

I'm far too cheap to pay $60 for make up. But then I rarely wear it any way.
If I didn't get up until 5 a.m. I would be late for work. We're up at 4:20 every morning

Hi Sandie ~~ I'm sort of back from August Break but not all the way.

This is a neat post. My internal clock resets itself at about eight in the morning. If Mrs. Jim doesn't bring coffee then I will have to get out of bed and get my own.

Hi Sandie .. so much we can do with so many 'basic' items - we don't need to buy special stuff .. but great tips/ideas.

Love the lad and the photos of Mercia's are lovely ..

The Lion waiting for the bell to sound for lunch so he can pounce was a great photo!

Cheers Hilary

My mom and dad used to make a special trip to that orchard when apples were in season. It's a great place.

Good ideas. I explained why I said 89 on my age. What meant to say was 83 or 89 it would make it a nice burial outfit. I didn't mean to get them mixed up nor try to lie to anyone. Dear Jack caught it.

Here in Ohio we have lots and lots of Apple Orchards, but I usually wind up buying mine in the grocery store. This year I'm going to make an effort to buy them at the orchards instead. They've got to be much tastier when they are fresh. Your orchard there is in a very scenic place and look like it would be worth the trip just for the view. I do love the Charlie Brown quote at the end of your post...so true.

Oh my goodness, Sandie. I just realized this AM that I had missed this. I am so glad I checked back. I need to take that 5:00 one to heart, and more importantly so does my husband!! He gets up early to run every day... for his heart. Thanks!
