Thanksgiving - Free Concert Tickets - Carbon Dioxide Mishap

I Hope you had a truly blessed Thanksgiving.

Disco and Grandson's Corner - they are thankful for each other!

Grandson's corner:
Grandson was given six tickets to a concert at the Roxy at the Braves Sun Trust Stadium.
His friend was going to go and could not use them.
They were $200 a piece - who does that?
He was thrilled though.

He took his then girlfriend.  She was with five really nice young men.

The Roxy at the new Braves Stadium here in Atlanta.

MIND TRICK FOR THE DAY:

What is the dirtiest animal in the world?
ANSWER AT THE END.

PHOTOGRAPHY:
Some of you asked for another photo from grandson's photography class - here it is:

JOKE OF THE DAY!

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK:

Thanks Darla

PRAYER FOR THE WEEK

WHO ELSE HAS GIVEN US THIS KIND OF GIFT?

CARBON DIOXIDE POISONING:

I have to take the time to tell you this story so you can tell others and maybe prevent a death.
My grandson had a car accident four weeks ago.
It was his fault - and thank God no one was hurt.
We just found out that the car IS salvageable.
PRAISE GOD!

Anyhow I let him use my old old car.  a 2000 Honda CRV with 180,000 miles.
It is slow.  It is old.
At first he was embarrassed, but is now appreciating it.
It will be two more weeks before it is fixed.

That isn't even the story I want to tell you about.

My car has a CD player and my grandson doesn't even have a CD player.
Hard to believe.
Funny he has only one CD - they gave them out at that Concert at the Roxy above!
Now see how this comes around into play.

Grandson goes to me - I am going upstairs to get the CD and try it out in the car.
I was doing dinner dishes.
He ran upstairs and got it, ran passed me, and flew in the garage.
I kept doing dishes for awhile and then - well I think it was the Holy Spirit - nudged me and said, "He has been in the garage too long".

So I stopped and went into the garage.
I opened the kitchen door and all this carbon dioxide from the muffler had filled the air.

HE HAD THE CAR ON WITH THE GARAGE DOORS DOWN~WITH THE CAR ON!!!

I screamed, "What are you doing?"

He looked at me weird.

I opened the garage doors first.
Then the car door -
he kind of fell out of it onto the garage floor and was coughing and hacking and spitting up.

I was aghast - I asked him if he was trying to commit suicide.

HE LOOKED SHOCKED LIKE I WAS JOKING -
HE HAD NO IDEA THAT WAS A WAY TO COMMIT SUICIDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT?

He said, "He said I was never told that - taught that."  I said did't you see it on tv? He said no. I always park outside and had no idea.

I THINK HE COULD HAVE DIED

Tell your kids - we just assumed he knew that at 17, but he did not.
If he died we would have thought suicide.
Tell them others things you think they might know!!!!!!!!!! that are dangerous.

I am not saying he will never do something like this - I sure hope not -
but this was not a suicide attempt -
he just didn't know.
AND
We just assumed he did.
THANK YOU GOD!

OH! That is so scary about your grandson, carbon-monoxide thing! Who knew that kids wouldn't have had that drilled into them!!!

I hope you have a blessed week ahead of you, Sandi. xo Diana

that is truly scary, and I can see how he would not know, kids don't watch the news or read it either, something I would never think of.. so glad you went out there... glad the car can be fixed. also you could have died to, leaving a car running in the garage it can seep into the house and get the people there also. a couple died that way, she left the car running and did not know it. sat there running, they went to bed and never woke up.
love his photo, more please.
wow on the price of the tickets.

I had a cousin who died from carbon monoxide on his 21st birthday. This was over 50 years ago. The car was old and he was parked with his girlfriend (2nd date). They had the car on for the heat because it is cold in Massachusetts, and carbon monoxide, the silent killer, took them both. It was not suicide, it was an old, defective car, and two young people with good futures in front of them had their lives taken too soon. Their parents suffered from their loss for the rest of their lives.

I will pass along the story of your grandson to my grandchildren. I assume they know this, but your story gives me pause.

Oh my, so glad you went and found him in the garage and got the door open before any damage was done. That was a holy spirit nudging for sure! Good warning to all. We think people would know about cars and carbon monoxide but no they don't. I loved both the prayer and the thought you shared. I do appreciate what I have been blessed with and I do choose to be happy! Have a great week and count your blessings!

I was enjoying your normal unique post, and then the shocker... Yes It is good you are in tune with the Holy Spirit! I believe in life and warnings, I also believe in God's help in that respect.

I am glad it ended well, some educations are worth the drama, that is for danged sure!

What a story!!!

Hi Sandie - love the photos of the kids at the concert ... lovely to see them. Also re the carbon monoxide - yes that sounded scary ... so glad he's safe - I guess that's one of the potential dangers of having the garage leading straight into the house ... definitely worth knowing about - take care Hilary

Omigosh, how scary. And how grateful I am that you were there and got that "nudge" that he'd been in there for too long! You're right, he could have died, or done lasting damage! I just assume people know about exhaust fumes, but I can see why he didn't know. Whew!
This story makes the photos of your grandson and his friends and Disco all the more precious.

Oh Sandie, I'm so sorry this happened to your grandson. That is so scary. I have an older car too, and spending $$ to get it fixed. Yes, I think it was the Holy Spirit that guided you in the garage. That is the coolest picture that your son took in Photography class. You'll have to tell me about that. I see the shadows, but is there another person in the picture? Charlie Brown in the best, isn't he? And I smiled when I saw 'thanks Darla' at the end cause my best friend is Darla. And I love the answer to the question haha.

Have a wonderful week Sandie. So glad your grandson was Ok. And what a special grandmother you are. : )

Oh wow, Sandie! Glad you listened to the prompting of the Holy Spirit and went to check on him! So glad he is okay from both that and his accident! Boys! They think they are invincible at this age.

It should probably be mentioned several times during driving instructions. Even in warm climates, I can picture people listening to music or wanting to talk privately while in a garage.

This was an important story to share. I'm going to mention it to my 16-year-old great-niece.

Your story is so frightening!! SO good that you were home and nearby! And that God nudged you! These days, with so many social websites and Google, T.V., etc., we just take it for granted that teens know this stuff. And that's a mistake that can kill. I was going to answer "man" to this question, then I thought NAH! I LOVE the fitness protection joke!

Wooooo---that was a scary thing that happened.... We ASSUME that our kids KNOW everything. Glad you told this story since it is one that needs to be told to parents EVERYWHERE.....

My friend's son tried to commit suicide that way --but she caught him before he did it.... VERY scary...

I'm not surprised that we humans are the dirtiest animals around. Even when we hike way back in a beautiful mountain on a nice trail, people will leave their trash everywhere... Drives me crazy.

We had a great Thanksgiving and hope you did also.

Hugs,
Betsy

Sandie, the pumpkin pie was homemade for Thanksgiving. I made two pies. But the cherry Danish is from the dessert place in the country. It has all sorts of different goodies there, and I always stop there when I'm in that town. : )

Oh, good grief! Thank God for that little whisper which prompted you to check on Andy! Unfortunately, at my last job I witnessed parking lot scenes like you've shown. People can be such pigs! Ugh.

Oh my gosh!!! I completely forgot what you posted before that scary story. Thank You God for your Holy Spirit who leads us and quickens our hearts to warn us of danger. Oh Sandie, I can't tell you how thankful I am for you! Wow! Now he knows. Oh dear, they teach them everything stupid at school and leave out important stuff. Okay. Now, who in the world can afford 6 tickets at $200 each? What a treat for your grandson and his friends. Is this girl the nice one that we are sad about? (And I don't know who or what Roxy is!) Okay! our new car doesn't have a cd player which I miss so much. I'm glad you had such a good Thanksgiving and I know you will be giving thanks to God each time that little scene runs through your mind! Thank You, Lord!

Free concert tickets what a plus but the whole drama of him playing the CD in the garage, how scary and yeah we think everyone knows how dangerous that is but sadly some do not.

Very scary the things that we don't know and can cause harm are alarming.

Oh my gosh!! My heart is pounding after reading that story about Andy and the car in the garage. Praise God you got there in time!! That gas could have gotten into the house and killed you all!! Love & hugs, Sandie!!

I am happy to see your grandson with such a lovely young lady. They make a nice couple.

That is something you want to tell the kids, for sure. I'm so so so glad you got to him in time. I'm sorry to hear about the accident too, but it's wonderful he's okay. Sounds like he has a guardian angel (and a praying grandmother). :) The concert tickets are a great score! $200 is steep. I'm sure he made great memories with his friends there too.

Oh dear! How scary is that? I think they know all the time too. Nice you can let him drive an old car. I like Disco resting place 😀

Seriously, who does do that!! That's a lot of money to not be able to attend. The no CD thing is hard for me to wrap my mind around. I still play CD. I still buy some from time to time. I don't know what to say. My heart just sank reading your story. Thank God for your nudge.

Oh, Sandie! I have never expected to read this scary story that happened to your grandson. Children think they know everything. School Teachers are supposed to teach them important things for their incoming lives -as adults.
I think you saved your grandson's life by going into the garage at the right time. I'm completely puzzled! God was there for you, and for your grandson. He should appreciate what you did. It was an accident. Your grandson did not know how hazardous carbon monoxide could be -when one inhales it into the breathing system. I'll be praying for complete healings.

Disco look like smiling. LOL

Wow... that is very generous of his friend.

Omg! that was a near miss. Lucky you were alert. True... we can't assume that they know everything at this age . Thank God he is ok
