What was the first food eaten ON the moon?

What was the first food eaten ON the moon?

I just heard this on the radio when NASA was celebrating the years back then.  Does anyone know what the first food was eaten on the moon - who ate it - why - and the little story behind it?
Answers will appear somewhere in the post.

Now I think going to the moon was awesome.  I don't know for myself what the exact value was, but I do imagine that there were some scientific values for sure.

We need to look up because that is where I think God is for one thing.  It also means you are being more positive than negative.  Looking up is good.  These are my views....

(The first food that was eaten on the moon was bread and wine.)

Then I read Hilary's post one time and this quote was on there:

In the hope of reaching the moon men fail to see the flowers that blossoms at their feet.

I guess that looking down is good too!
If we are always looking up then we miss the beautiful things that are down by our feet!

(The first food on the moon was eaten by Buzz Aldrin.)

Now look at who this is written by, Anne Frank - can you believer her optimism?
WOW
I should never com plain!

(The first food of bread and wine eaten by Buzz on the moon - was Holy Communion - he celebrated it right there on the moon).

Hilda having fun as the summer is closing.
Think about this - the first day of summer is really the beginning of the end of summer.
That is the longest day of the year and the days are getting shorter!
Summer is ending!
Which to be honest is not my favorite season here in HOTLANTA!!

(Okay the rest of the story:
Buzz was not allowed for political reasons to pray and do the communion out loud.  He could not read the bible.  The verse he read to himself was from John 15:5).

(5 “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.)

I think that was such a cool story.

TWO COACH POTATOES a few years ago.
Guess what they are doing nowadays?
Still being sleeping buddies together.

A little funny.

Something to think about:
From Ma's Blog.  Thanks.

We read that story and was proud of our Astronaut for Giving thanks for such a marvelous event. I am glad the story was told. It was a personal thing and very meaningful for us just to think about.

So surprised when I first read about communion on the moon on Marydon's blog. It just makes me so sad they never broadcast it for fear of offending someone or another. Puleeeeeze.

Good post, I remember the time of the first landing on the moon (telling my age) but I couldn't remember what was eaten and who ate it.
Have a good day.

I remember hearing as a child that the moon was made of cheese, so that ould have been my guess. But truly, I didn't even realize that had eaten anything while they were there. It's always nice to learni something new anyway. I do love the quote about today being awesome, but it's not from my blog, however you are always welcome to share anything I might have. I only wish I could have shared it, it's a good one for sure!

I love, love, love this. You know...even though he was not allowed to pray aloud, we are reading the words he said 50 years later. Amazing!

Thanks for the first food info. I suppose if asked I would have said something to be sucked out of a bottle hooked onto the astronaut's mouthpiece.
I worked in the Control Center at NASA Houston from 1964 until 1980 having various jobs as an Aerospace Engineer.
The dirty old man here also likes the pretty space between the top and the bottom parts of a two-piece.
Riddle this morning from the 10-year-old granddaughter KP who has been staying here since Thursday afternoon:
"What goes up but can never come down?"
Oh yes, we gave away our couch that was long enough for me to sleep. Sinister motives or being generous spouse? The latter of course. So was my ex when she gave away my 1956 Ford Fairlane Four-door Hardtop. I think I was hurt rather than angry. The poor recipient lady needed a car but surely not this one on it's way to being a collector car.
Answer tomorrow to the riddle unless you have the correco answer.

You pointed out some interesting facts and I love the quotes and Bible verses too! I do know, if I'm not mistaken, that they drank Tang.

Wow that was interesting history about the bread and wine and Buzz Aldrin taking communion on heaven. Its a shame he wasn't able to have it acknowledged publicly but God knew! My sister was fascinated by the whole landing on the moon but I was 3 years younger and it was exciting, but sometimes I wonder why we needed to go there in the first place? I have mixed feelings about space exploration. I can't believe we are almost in August. The kids go back to school here next Monday. Summer flew by!

I did not know any of these moon things, really interesting! I love your sleeping boys! It seems to me that we should take care of all the people here on earth before we go in outer space, but most people will disagree with me likely. I have to look only down now, or else I fall!!!

With all that equipment on, I was surprised to read that he could put something in his mouth. However, where there is a will, there is a way. .

It's pretty great that the first meal on the moon was communion. Praise God! I enjoyed your post, as always, Sandie! Great photo of the two boys napping, too!

That was wonderful to hear that the first food was Holy Communion. And then, hearing the verse he read to himself was so special. I love Anne Frank quotes, Sandie. She was a beautiful person, even when she was going through such hard times. The girls visited the Anne Frank house in their travels, and they said it was something everything should see. The bathing suit joke was so funny. I'll pass that one on to the girls hehehe. And I loved the picture of Disco and his sleeping buddy, so cute.

Enjoy the rest of the summer days, Sandie.

That bathing suit cartoon cracked me up...I would be the exact same way.
Yes I remember the moon landing and Buzz doing communion...what an amazing thing...so thankful that politics didn't water down God's Word.
Anne Frank was so wise beyond her years.
Great post, Sandy.

I never knew that about the first food eaten on the moon and that it was holy communion. Thanks for the info! I just listened to a Christian podcast of which John 15:5 was the basis. What a meaningful coincidence!
Anne Frank was amazing.

I’m not sure why I never knew that about communion on the moon until recently. At the time of the historical moonwalk, I’m kind of embarrassed to say my focus was upon myself and not history being made. I love the funny about the swimsuit. This year I have not gotten a tan for the first time. Wearing shorts only around the house and not in public! Haha. Anne frank was a most amazing young lady at 13. More mature in her thinking than most, but also still childish in her ways. Bless her heart.

Sandie, you always wondered about Nel's trip home. She did a post about it today. I think you will enjoy seeing all the interesting things along the way. She lived in Georgia for a few years, so it was hard getting back to the swing of things in California with her new area and job. She is adjusting and is around lots of family now, but she missed Georgia so much that she cried when leaving her home. She will have so many good memories of the people, the sites and history, the food, and the kindness of your great state. : )

[Does anyone know what the first food was eaten on the moon - who ate it - why - and the little story behind it? ]

I know i know! the answer is "mooncakes". Eaten by the moon fairy Chang Er. That's why her husband Hao Yi is so angry and she float up the sky to hide in the moon .

Next month is Mooncakes/ Mid-autumn festival for the chinese. LOL

On your questions about the plants exchange. Well we grew the plants in recycled cups, pots, milk carton and bottles. Then we bring to the plant exchange place and donated them to be adopted by visitors.

At the plant exchange place, there is also a Flea Market. We rented a stall there to sell our homemade and homegrown goodies such as pickled mangoes, herbal drinks, honey lime drinks , kefir lime leaves , Brazilian Spinach Vegetables aloe vera and such. It's not for profit. Rather it's for the experience in selling and learning the resposibility of handling a stall.
