Second semester of collage...Martin Luther King Day

Grandson Update

HAPPY SECOND SEMESTER AT COLLEGE
Grandson
He made it through the first semester and is enrolled in his second one - just finished his second week.  Psychology, Managerial Accounting,  Human Services, World Literature, and American History. Some core classes and some in his major.

So far he has changed his major about ten times - normal I am sure - now he is back in Business/Sales.

He is busy all the time.!!!!!
I wish he'd rest more - but that is not happening in the near future.

This is grandma's thinking the order of his life should be:
Church and young people youth groups.
School.
Girlfriend.

His order of what is.
Girlfriend.
Girlfriend.
School/Church.

Funny thing - it is his life - right?

I am not saying he is wrong (we do love his girlfriend). I am sure this is normal.
To tell you the truth - I think for where he is in life - I think he's doing pretty good - it is a matter of maturing.
I thank God for that.

No matter what he does in life - I believe he will be okay.

So what do I do?  I pray. It sounds so simple and not like I am doing much - but I really do pray and I find it helps me as much as it helps him!!!!!!!!!!!!

BLESS YOU MARTIN LUTHER KING JR.

Ok, his girlfriend is gorgeous! I can see why that's his priority! Lol, he's a cutie as well. My youngest graduated in December 2017. I loved college and enjoyed reliving it through my own kids. Managerial Accounting was the class that made me change majors out of Accounting! Psychology was my favorite and easiest class I took in college, but I didn't think I could get a job in it.

I know what you are saying. The young do not think like we do as far as priorities go. Young love is so wonderful and it does seem to consume them. I have to say one of my son't left home and moved to Florida to pursue he love of his life. Pretty much broke my heart when he left, but I'll have to say he made a good choice. I just visited them and they are very happy to this day. They haven't always lived in Florida but are now back there again and seem to love it. Matter of fact, so do I.

thanks for the chuckles, and you are right, all you can do is pray... at his age it would be something to worry about if the girlfriend was not the first in his life. this too shall change...or maybe not. ha ha

Have to admit, there's a good chance I wouldn't be here today were it not for my mother's prayers. Andy and his girlfriend make a beautiful couple, don't they? And that Disco's too cute for words!

Prayers are a good thing. You're a good grandma. He and his girlfriend are a very nice looking couple.

Awww on Disco. He's a cutie pie.

I linked this post to Awww Mondays.

Have a fabulous and blessed day and week. Big hug. ♥

Hi Sandie - he's living his life and learning as he goes ... also listening to grandma on the sly! He'll be fine and they look so happy -cheers Hilary

What a beautiful couple they are! I think nearly everyone, when they are in the throes of "new love," is totally obsessed with their significant other. Eventually, they will be more balanced.

My daughter changed her major several times, as well. Because of that, she ended up with a degree in "multi-disciplinary studies"---kind of a catch-all degree, which utilized her many different credits. While finishing up that degree, she thought about 2 different things for her Master's. She has since changed her mind and is pursuing a Masters in Library Science. All that to say, I think it's normal to change your major.

Ah, prayer...truly the most helpful thing we can do for our children and grandchildren.

Have a lovely day,
Patti

Hey, even at 81, I can remember when my life was GIRLFRIEND, GIRLFRIEND, GIRLFRIEND, GIRLFRIEND take a break and GIRLFRIEND, GIRLFRIEND.
I am smiling, I can't remember how far back I met you, but I do remember when he was a little kid. Like our grands, he has grown. So very hard to believe time moves that swiftly. Of course his mind is on a girl, he is a young man, so............ (I don't blame him, she is one pretty girl)
Loved the funnies.
Thanks for the entertainment and update in your world.
Sherry & jack.
PS: Good entry!

Andy's girlfriend is so pretty! I still think of Andy as he was when we met all of you at Cracker Barrel that day. He was so young and so shy! Time goes much too fast! I always enjoy your posts, Sandie, and the giggles at the end. Happy week!!

It sounds like you have a wonderful Grandson with a great head on his shoulders.
He's young and it's hard to decide on your "life"...I think all of us change our mind, goals and desires all the time.
Since I was married at 20 and Hubby was 22, I can't be critical of young love...
Grandma's prayers are so important. I can see and hear your love and concern for him...Keep it up...
Love the transparency of your blog post.

Well I can understand why your Grandson's girlfriend is such a priority, she is very pretty. :D

It is very normal to change your mind. That's why they suggest a small local college the first two years. Good luck with his order in life! Yes, praying is the best thing we can do for our loved ones. I like Disco's sweatshirt.

To answer your question from my blog..The Roseville Pottery Jardenaire is a vintage brand of pottery.
This particular pot comes with a pedestal. I guess it's to be placed in a corner somewhere and maybe have a plant in it. Very 1940's and pricey. Look it up on Google. You will see all types of vases and pots that are Roseville pottery.

I know I should have put more emphasis on study when I was in school. But I wanted to have fun, too, and spent too much time having "fun." Fortunately I didn't forget that I was in school to learn and to graduate. Also, fortunately I made wonderful friends that are still my friends fifty years later.

a great update, young and wise that usually don't go together, young and silly maybe or young & reckless although for me the words should be young & learning

Your grandson and his girlfriend are cute as ever, Sandie. Love that picture of them. They look so happy. And Yes, he will figure it all out - and sometimes they change their minds. I think I mentioned to you that Jess started out with a degree in Interior Design. She found it didn't suit her, so she got her degree in Teaching. I'm glad about that. Martin Luther King was wonderful, and what a special day we have to reflect and hear his quotes. Oh Disco, you are too cute in that Adidas sweatshirt hahaha.

Have a very nice week, Sandie.

Your beloved Andy is just doing what nature is telling him. It is all normal and natural and the way it has always been and always will be. He was raised in a good home and all that you and his mom taught him will be what makes him into the man you are and will be forever proud.

Your grandson and his girlfriend make such a great looking couple! Both are so photogenic! Its hard when one is young to get their priorities straight, but they have time LOL. Good too for him to think a lot about what he might want to do and if he changes his major a few times, its a good thing rather than get stuck in something he might not want to do for the rest of his life, right? Wishing him a great 2nd semester of his freshman year!

Disco is one cool dog!
Your grandson is a cutie.. college is a time of independence and figuring out who you are.. it's all normal.

It's said that youth is wasted on the young. Maybe so? Older typically is wiser! First year of college can be tough for a lot of kids, trying to figure out what to study if they're not sure. Sounds like he's doing great overall, cute couple's pic.
And Disco in an Adidas hoodie!!

Hi, Andy is so handsome and his girlfriend is gorgeous..... I know it's hard --but once kids get 'his' age, we have to let them experience life on their own.. The upbringing you and his Mom have provided him will keep him from making bad decisions... Hope he has a part-time job --since that will help him to begin to grow up and realize that life has changed. Having a job --and beginning to sort out HIS money is important I think... Besides, going to school full-time and working part-time doesn't leave TOO much time for the budding romance.... GOOD LUCK....

Cute post... Love the Reindeer tryouts one... ha

Hugs,
Betsy

I too pray for my grandkids...every single day. I have 2...a girl 13 and a boy 16. The grandson has his first real girlfriend. I told his sister today the girlfriend has replaced me:) I used to keep him every day and now he prefers being with the girlfriend...can you imagine???? Love those 2 soooo much!!! You have a very handsome grandson and his girlfriend is really pretty.

I woke up this morning, having had a dream about my grandmother. It's been a long, long times since I had one. I was crying and praying and so thankful she had been in my life. The unconditional love of grandmas is always appreciated, but the older you get, the more that is true. You are making a lot of deposits in your grandsons life, that will affect him forever more, by praying and loving him so much. It's true. :) Have a wonderful day, my friend!

Hi Chatty Crone,
I've seen your comments at Abby Normal's and decided to visit.
It's so loving of you to care deeply about your grandson's decisions. I have 3 daughters: one who is out of college and working, and 2 who are still in college. When they were little, my husband and I had ideas of what we wanted for their college studies and adult life (slightly different ideas, by the way). Well... they are choosing on their own. (Scary- LOL) I'm believing God that they'll be OK, which means taking care of themselves and making good decisions about faith.
How do his parents feel?
He and his girlfriend adorable!
