Amazing World On top of the stairs in Pico Da Tijuca, Rio De Janeiro, Brazil
I have been thinking again - lol. So many of us are aging - including myself. When I was younger, I thought a lot differently than I do now. I used to run the family - raise the kids and all that encompassed - pastor - grocery shopper - chef - doctor - cook - bottle warmer - laundress- seamstress - you know how it goes.
Change happened.
Then as the kids got older, I went to work and still ran the house.
Changed happened.
Next, the kids went off to college and I had to take care of my dear mom.
Change happened.
No sooner than my mom passed, I helped raise my grandson for 20+ years.
Change happened.
I still have the house to clean - laundry to do - things to cook. But, no kids, no job as I have retired. I do keep pretty busy however with different things I have created to do in my life. The blog helped a lot - I go to a few group activities - bible studies - and now I am learning to cook all from scratch again since I haven't done it for years for my new 'live it' lifestyle to lose weight which I am still doing slowly. SLOWLY! Actually, my hubs has joined in the bandwagon and we are learning together.
Change Will happen again.
I do know in the future I am going to have to repurpose myself yet again for another stage of life. Woo-boy that might be a tough one. You never know what is going to happen - but you have to have FAITH!
Some interesting items that were invented for one purpose have been repurposed for other things:
Coke - was originally invented as an alternative to morphine addiction and to treat headaches and relieve anxiety. Now it is a drink that gives you a ZIP!
Play-doe was first invented in 1930 to be a wallpaper cleaner for homes that used coal for heating. To get the soot off the walls. They made it non-toxic and whalla - we have play-doe.
Obviously, that is life.
Have you ever had to reinvent yourself? What have or do you do now that you did not even do before?
You are never too old to reinvent yourself.
Change is hard at first, messy in the middle, and gorgeous at the end.

Your stages in life sound very similar to the stages in my life, Sandie. I had to take care of my sick mom and dad at one point in my life. Yes, we keep treading on, and it's a great reminder to have faith along the way. Thank you for that this morning. Those steps in Brazil are something! I wouldn't want to hike them, but what a view! Interesting about the play-dough. I still love to smell and work with play-dough whenever I'm around it haha. And to answer your question..... What have or do you do now that you did not even do before? Shovel snow! I've learned so many other things living in the mountains. I like your words, "change is hard at first, messy in the middle, and gorgeous at the end. I will write that one down.

Change is definitely messy and hard but to plod through it to a good end is the very best.
I think all the stages of your life are a lot like mine. Its like reading a novel and going from one chapter to another...Same but Different... Without the Lord it can be a complete disaster.
So grateful for how the Lord has lead me on my journey.. I think some of it is like that staircase in Brazil..scary and dangerous but the view from the top is amazing!!!

The older I get, the harder it is to adjust to change. Since I turned 70, I have been saying that nowadays, a day when nothing happens is a good day! So glad you are alright! Interesting about the Coke and Play Doh!
Yes original Coke had cocaine in it. I did know about Play Doh. It was interesting to hear about that story and the wallpaper. I could NEVER do those stairs. Just looking at that picture made me cringe. Afraid of heights me is. Janice
No, I'm not going with you! Yes, change does happen and I'm not always happy about that. With not bowling this season I feel lost. After being with my mother in law and seeing how active she is at 96, I realize I need to start moving a lot! Those inventions were interesting. Change is hard for me. I'm a bit lost right now. Interesting post!
Yes I think as women we go though lots of changes. From a young mother to a grandmother and to a retired person. I try to live life as it comes and it is not always easy

I really liked this Chatty. It was a pleasant read, and even so parallels in some parts. Yes we have been repurposed also, and yes that is life. Everyone could have a book written about their lives, we all face different but the same.

Oh yes...Change is inevitable and I personally am not a huge fan of Change. I have to really be nice about a lot of the changes, especially in this world we live in now. I guess much of it is the cycle of life. I would love to go on this "trip" with you, but not to climb those steps. Girl...I am afraid of heights and anything taller than the roof of our house is too high. Good post Sandie and it reminds me of my Mother-in-law (who passed away last year).. Change was always difficult for her.

As we age our way of thinking changes, I have become more laid back and I really can't see the point in getting upset or stressed out over most things, I did not know that about play-doe

Repurposing my life has become practically and annual occurrence these past seven years. Exhausting but then life is never dull.
I sure won't be climbing any mountains! Old, I am, and there is no point denying it. The fact is obvious for all to see, and the creaking of my bones noticeable to, and felt by me, so there is no point trying to kid myself, or anyone else! :)

I feel like I've been repurposed over and over again. I love your perspective of it. As a 61 year old, I often wonder where time went. Then I'm reminded that I'm still living and just on a different place than I was years back. Although, you won't get me climbing stairs like those. I'll pass!! :)
Omigoodness, ask me about change. My life, for the last seven years, has been nothing but change. Oddly, it's starting to swing back to our 2017 arrival here. I guess I'll coast until the next change. Change always waits for us.
