DRIVING IN RAIN....This May Save Your Life. This is well worth a read!
GOOD VISION IN A DOWNPOUR
How to achieve good vision while driving during a heavy downpour. We are not sure why it is so effective; just try this method when it rains heavily. This method was told by a Police friend who had
experienced and confirmed it. It is useful....even driving at night.
Most of the motorists would turn on HIGH or FASTEST SPEED of the wipers during heavy downpour, yet the visibility in front of the windshield is still bad....
In the event you face such a situation, just put on your SUNGLASSES (any model will do), and miracles! All of a sudden, your visibility in front of your windshield is perfectly clear, as if there is no rain.
Make sure you always have a pair of SUNGLASSES in your car. You are not only helping yourself to drive safely with good vision, but also might save your friend's life by giving him this idea....Try it yourself and share it with your friends!!!!
Amazingly, you still see the drops on the windshield, but not the sheet of rain falling. You can see where the rain bounces off the road.
It works to eliminate the "blindness" from passing cars. Or the "kickup" if you are following a car in the rain.
They ought to teach this little tip in driver's training....It really does work.
Another tip:
A 36 year old female had an accident several weeks ago. It was raining, though not excessively when her car suddenly began to hydro-plane and literally flew through the air. She was not seriously injured but very stunned at the sudden occurrence! When she explained to the Police Officer what had happened, he told her something that every driver should know- NEVER DRIVE IN THE RAIN WITH YOUR CRUISE CONTROL ON.
She thought she was being cautious by setting the cruise control and maintaining a safe consistent speed in the rain....
But the Police Officer told her that if the cruise control is on, your car will begin to hydro-plane when the tires lose contact with the road, and your car will accelerate to a higher rate of speed making you take off like an aeroplane. She told the Officer that was exactly what had occurred. The Officer said this warning should be listed, on the driver's seat sun-visor-NEVER USE THE CRUISE CONTROL WHEN THE ROAD IS WET OR ICY, along with the airbag warning. We tell our teenagers to set the cruise control and drive a safe speed-but we don't tell them to use the cruise control only when the road is dry.
The only person the accident victim found who knew this,(besides the Officer), was a man who'd had a similar accident, totalled his car and sustained severe injuries.
NOTE: Some vehicles (like the Toyota Sienna Limited XLE) will not allow you to set the cruise control when the windshield wipers are on.
Now remember - these are just forwards - you should check them out first before doing or believing anything! lol

A great post Chatty...loved the blind quilter and the last little sign the best.
Love the tips on the rain as it is pouring down in STL. Worst part the weather man promised us a beautiful Saturday all week long. Oh well :(
The cat and the sink...priceless.
Have a wonderful day! Carol
PS....I changed some things around, see if you can reply to me now. I am so clueless.
note about the car in the rain - i did ask the hubby about - being that he is in the business of insurance - he says what about the laws of gravity? not sure he believes in it. but always be careful while driving the in the rain. ( ;
nice post for the weekend, sandie!
i love spicy food. spices not only excite your taste buds but are composed of antioxidants and minerals that are essential for our wellness.
happy weekend!
Good morning dear Sandie! I will certainly try the sunglasses in the rain:) Have a blessed Saturday, looks like it is gonna be perfect weather! HUGS!
That's very interesting about the cruise control.
My cat Ruby does that in the sink :)
I didn't know that cinnamon was an anti-center agent. Interesting.
Hi Sandie...Good post! Was happy to see that kitty in the sink. That's something Honey Cat loves to do, too. Thought she was a little crazy but maybe it's normal for a cat to do that.
It's true about our words, too. Better to button up if we can't say something positive, right?
Hope your Saturday is wonderful. Susan
I LOVE the cat! That's just how my Cupid is...too big for the sink or most anything else. hehe!
i like garlic and cinnamon but not the other spices... i have seen that board on Big Bang Theory, sheldon folds his shirts with one... gave me an idea for making a kindle cover, i will tell bob and he can make one
Interesting information! As always. You are such a font of information.
I have used the sunglasses trick in the rain and it works very well. Also, I learned about the cruise control the hard way. Thankfully regained control and later learned about the hydro-plane and taking cruise off in the rain.
I hope I remember that sunglasses trick the next time I drive in rain. It is supposed to rain here tonight and tomorrow and I sure hope it does.
Great tips, thank you! I love the story of the blind lady making quilts. She is so talented! This story warms my heart!
Hugs,
Marie
the last quote is very true. will have to check out the sunglasses tip sometime!
Have a great Saturday Sandie. I have been taking Tumeric daily for about 5 years now! Enjoy your weekend....
Good rain tips.
Love the cat in the sink! So funny! Great info as always. hugs, Linda
It rains so much here. I will definitely try the sunglasses trick. The last quote is awesome and so very true. Have a wonderful day and I thank you for giving a good start to mine. :)
Imma try that sunglasses thing the next rain. Love the entry, lot of fun and info, but I especially like the quote about the tongue and heart, so, so true.
This is always a worthwhile visit, Thanks..
(((HUGS))) from Wildwood
I make it a habit to drive with cruise control except in rain or snow just because I like to be in control! The sunglasses I'll have to try.
The abilities people have without their sight are amazing. I saw something earlier today about the fact that blind people smile even though they've never seen a smile.
Have a great weekend! Blessings.
You know Sandie....Reagan (my cat) too big for the xink. LOL
Sandie, I meant to add, "I am never going to Wal-Mart again!" ;-)
So...old Albert had no "special talent" huh? Right, and I am only 21 and cute as a bug.
Hope your weekend is fun, too! :)
The bible also says life and death are in our words...that's how powerful they are! Enjoy your weekend!
Nice post and that last picture is soo true!! Gotta be so careful!!!
Diana
Sandie,
Thanks for your Saturday Post-and the health tips-love the kitty cat:)
Thank you for the tip about wearing sunglasses. I'll try it and see if it works.
Enjoyed your Post today.
Thanks for printing my tips! I love the last quote and copied it. Thanks also for the sweet birthday wishes!!! I never did know how to make those tiny music notes, they always amaze me!!
I didn't know about the sunglasses and will definitely try that tip. But who in the world would drive in rain with the cruise control on? That cat has a very good point. Diet catfood may be another option. Very cute.
Great tip! Love seeing the video on the blind quilter.
oh my, that knife in the cake is unbelievable. Glad no one was hurt, that could have been bad.
I've heard about the sunglasses when it's raining but I've never remembered to try it
Awesome post today. I have got to try the sunglasses. Hope you have a great day.
So true about the tongue; it can be so hurtful with the words we allow it to say! hope you had a great day!
betty
Lots of fun;informative and insightful at the same time.
Whenever possible I just don't go out when it's raining...I much prefer to stay indoors on rainy days and nights. I've always got enough supplies on hand to feed an army or two, so I'll not starve! ;)
Very interesting ! I hope you have a wonderful rest to your weekend
I have used the sunglass trick myself. GREAT TIP.
So do you do the cancer fighting spices. Right now, I am doing garlic, hot peppers and MSM. I also do the ginger and tumeric.
wow, this was an enlightening one!
Nice ideas today, Sandie. I haven't proved it but I believe that the cruise control problem is only for rear wheel drive cars.
Mrs. Jim and I both had spin arounds on the same rainy day at about the same time (driving to work) on different roads driving rear wheel drive cars.
We were both going over 50 and had the cruise control 'ON.' We both turned around several times as the road was slippery and then we both headed back in the right direction and never stopped.
You have a nice Sunday, bye,
..
Such a great post. It had a little something for everybody. A great read. The blind quilter was amazing!
Hugs,
Patti
I had some harrowing experiences in rain when I was driving to work every day. These are great tips. Thank you Sandie!
Interesting post, many good tips.
Have a lovely Sunday as I am reading this a bit late.
Hugs,
Eva
I need to get more turmeric into my diet. :)
I would have never known or even thought about wearing sunglasses during rain while drive.
Thanks for the tip:)
Wonderful gems, as usual! Has anyone verified the sunglass thing? I'd never think to wear them when it was rainy.
Blessings,
Susan :)
And now it is Sunday afternoon. Why do those weekends go so fast? Rats...
Have a happy week Sandie!
xo Catherine
Love your quotations, and the driving advice will come in handy. I'll bet they put the knife in the cake so they could cut it.
These are interesting. I don't have a car -- the beauty of New York is its great mass transit -- but the driving tips could really come in handy one day. Have a great week!
I have never heard of those suggestions about driving in the rain and in fact had to share them on Facebook.
With the rainy days of April coming up...I am going to try out your driving tips. Sunglasses?
Here I am....saw The Oz today in 3D - really good! Carol
Great post, as always.
I must comment on the cruise control. I was just complaining about drivers who are so dangerous because they set the cruise and go without ever changing the speed. They come right up behind you and don't seem to be able to moderate the speed at all. I think all cars should have the setting that does not allow cruise control when the wind shield wipers are on.
Hi Sandie, sweetheart,
I am sorry to read this so late.
I have been busy lately.
It's always interesting the tips you offer to the readers.
I love the image of the cat.
You also offer tips to prevent cancer. I did not know about those sort of food help preventing it.
We shall all follow your tips...
Have a great Sunday and week!
Have a blessed time, Sandie with those you love, dear friend!
Big Hugs,
Starry.
I liked that last saying!! So true about the tongue!!
i hope your weekend was perfect
love

Whoa...that tongue quote is good and that fat cat - love him. Great tips for driving in the rain....Chatty....have a fab week.....stay safe out there and hope it's a great one.
Love all, as always. I am gonna borrow that last quote it you don't mind.
Hi Sandie....where is your post for today?
Hi Sandie....where is your post for today?
Always enjoy these posts. I found the advice about wearing sunglasses while driving in the rain especially enlightening...(get the pun?!)
And cruise control always unnerves me - even in regular weather. I guess I like having CONTROL. Ahem.
xo
Amen to the cancer fighting spices! Thanks for the interesting tie bits and LOL at the cat meme. :)
You will think I am weird but I dont ever use cruise control even though my car has it. It doesn't feel safe to me. I'm a control freak.
Thanks for the chuckles Sandie
Sandie, that is some great advice about driving in the rain.
And a knife in a cake??? WHAT ON EARTH?
xo,
Sheila
Loving the Irish look to your blog.
AMAZED by the blind quilter. Shows that even when we can't see with our head, He makes sure we can with our heart.
I heard of that tip with the sunglasses and have used it! I never, ever use my cruise control. Just scares me! My hubby loves it though when we're on a long trip. Hope you had a nice weekend.
