DRIVING IN RAIN....This May Save Your Life. This is well worth a read!

GOOD VISION IN A DOWNPOUR

How to achieve good vision while driving during a heavy downpour. We are not sure why it is so effective; just try this method when it rains heavily. This method was told by a Police friend who had
experienced and confirmed it. It is useful....even driving at night.

Most of the motorists would turn on HIGH or FASTEST SPEED of the wipers during heavy downpour, yet the visibility in front of the windshield is still bad....
In the event you face such a situation, just put on your SUNGLASSES (any model will do), and miracles! All of a sudden, your visibility in front of your windshield is perfectly clear, as if there is no rain.

Make sure you always have a pair of SUNGLASSES in your car. You are not only helping yourself to drive safely with good vision, but also might save your friend's life by giving him this idea....Try it yourself and share it with your friends!!!!

Amazingly, you still see the drops on the windshield, but not the sheet of rain falling. You can see where the rain bounces off the road.

It works to eliminate the "blindness" from passing cars. Or the "kickup" if you are following a car in the rain.

They ought to teach this little tip in driver's training....It really does work.

Another tip:

A 36 year old female had an accident several weeks ago. It was raining, though not excessively when her car suddenly began to hydro-plane and literally flew through the air. She was not seriously injured but very stunned at the sudden occurrence! When she explained to the Police Officer what had happened, he told her something that every driver should know- NEVER DRIVE IN THE RAIN WITH YOUR CRUISE CONTROL ON.

She thought she was being cautious by setting the cruise control and maintaining a safe consistent speed in the rain....

But the Police Officer told her that if the cruise control is on, your car will begin to hydro-plane when the tires lose contact with the road, and your car will accelerate to a higher rate of speed making you take off like an aeroplane. She told the Officer that was exactly what had occurred. The Officer said this warning should be listed, on the driver's seat sun-visor-NEVER USE THE CRUISE CONTROL WHEN THE ROAD IS WET OR ICY, along with the airbag warning. We tell our teenagers to set the cruise control and drive a safe speed-but we don't tell them to use the cruise control only when the road is dry.

The only person the accident victim found who knew this,(besides the Officer), was a man who'd had a similar accident, totalled his car and sustained severe injuries.

NOTE: Some vehicles (like the Toyota Sienna Limited XLE) will not allow you to set the cruise control when the windshield wipers are on.

Now remember - these are just forwards - you should check them out first before doing or believing anything!  lol

That's very interesting about the cruise control.

Optimistic Existentialist said...

My cat Ruby does that in the sink :)

I didn't know that cinnamon was an anti-center agent. Interesting.

Susan said...

Hi Sandie...Good post! Was happy to see that kitty in the sink. That's something Honey Cat loves to do, too. Thought she was a little crazy but maybe it's normal for a cat to do that.

It's true about our words, too. Better to button up if we can't say something positive, right?

Hope your Saturday is wonderful. Susan

I LOVE the cat! That's just how my Cupid is...too big for the sink or most anything else. hehe!

Interesting information! As always. You are such a font of information.

I have used the sunglasses trick in the rain and it works very well. Also, I learned about the cruise control the hard way. Thankfully regained control and later learned about the hydro-plane and taking cruise off in the rain.

Paula said...

I hope I remember that sunglasses trick the next time I drive in rain. It is supposed to rain here tonight and tomorrow and I sure hope it does.

Great tips, thank you! I love the story of the blind lady making quilts. She is so talented! This story warms my heart!

Imma try that sunglasses thing the next rain. Love the entry, lot of fun and info, but I especially like the quote about the tongue and heart, so, so true.
This is always a worthwhile visit, Thanks..

I make it a habit to drive with cruise control except in rain or snow just because I like to be in control! The sunglasses I'll have to try.
The abilities people have without their sight are amazing. I saw something earlier today about the fact that blind people smile even though they've never seen a smile.
Have a great weekend! Blessings.

You know Sandie....Reagan (my cat) too big for the xink. LOL

I didn't know about the sunglasses and will definitely try that tip. But who in the world would drive in rain with the cruise control on? That cat has a very good point. Diet catfood may be another option. Very cute.

Lots of fun;informative and insightful at the same time.

Whenever possible I just don't go out when it's raining...I much prefer to stay indoors on rainy days and nights. I've always got enough supplies on hand to feed an army or two, so I'll not starve! ;)

So do you do the cancer fighting spices. Right now, I am doing garlic, hot peppers and MSM. I also do the ginger and tumeric.

Nice ideas today, Sandie. I haven't proved it but I believe that the cruise control problem is only for rear wheel drive cars.

Mrs. Jim and I both had spin arounds on the same rainy day at about the same time (driving to work) on different roads driving rear wheel drive cars.

We were both going over 50 and had the cruise control 'ON.' We both turned around several times as the road was slippery and then we both headed back in the right direction and never stopped.

You have a nice Sunday, bye,
..

Great post, as always.

I must comment on the cruise control. I was just complaining about drivers who are so dangerous because they set the cruise and go without ever changing the speed. They come right up behind you and don't seem to be able to moderate the speed at all. I think all cars should have the setting that does not allow cruise control when the wind shield wipers are on.
